We found this fantastic round shelf that not only has an urban vibe, it reinforces the round idea of a caramel apple. This display, full of handmade gourmet caramel apples made with our Daffy Apple Traditional Dipping Caramel, Daffy Apple Red Candy Dipping Caramel, and Daffy Farms All Natural Dipping Caramel, turned out to be quite picture-worthy, judging from how many folks stopped to snap a photo of it!

And, of course, some close-ups of the apples!!

The gourmet caramel apples may have been the stars of the show, but be sure to check back tomorrow for more photos of caramel desserts we had on display featuring our All Natural Baker’s Caramel!!

IDDBA 2015: Part 1

Exactly two weeks ago today (Has it really been two weeks already?!) Daffy Farms was wrapping up the IDDBA’s Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar and Expo at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia! Our second year as an exhibitor at this trade show that offers the newest, best, and tastiest dairy, deli, and bakery products in the industry, we featured our Traditional Dipping Caramel on over 100 handmade gourmet caramel apples, as well as our All Natural Baker’s Caramel on an assortment of gorgeous desserts, and debuted our brand new Daffy Farms Rich & Creamy Caramel, an 8 ounce tub of dippable, pourable, drizzleable, caramel ready to hit retail store shelves this fall!

Hotel Pic - UseAfter a long flight from Colorado, we made it to the ATL! There’s our hotel! Not the big one in the center, the little one on the left. We were across the street from SkyView Atlanta, a giant ferris wheel, which made us feel right at home, because, you know, caramel apples, carnivals, ferris wheels…

CAM02019With one day to stick, dip, decorate, and package over 100 gourmet caramel apples, we started early and employed a good amount of teamwork.

They turned out pretty amazing! Check back tomorrow for IDDBA: Part 2 to see the results and more pictures from our booth at the show!!

We received these photos from Rebekah along with her comment:

“Daffy Apples were so beautiful and perfect for our October wedding. All our guests commented on how delicious they were although I was unable to even taste one as they were snatched up so fast!  Thank you so much. They were a great and high quality party favor.”

Look at these beautiful tables featuring the gorgeous, rich colors of fall!  We are delighted Rebekah chose our petite caramel apples as her wedding favors!

Unique Toppings

While preparing for the IDDBA Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo 2014, we made over 170 gourmet caramel apples in order to showcase our Daffy Apple Traditional Dipping Caramel.  It was a fun experiment in which we learned which toppings work with both the flavor and the holding power of our caramel.

Cranberries are a topping we have used in the past and currently use on our Daffy Apple Premium Caramel Apples with Cranberries and White Chocolate with Milk Chocolate Drizzle.  Granola, though, is an entirely new idea based on an suggestion from a customer.  We used a very basic granola, but there are so many different mixtures that would taste excellent with apples and caramel.  We also added a white chocolate drizzle to a few of the granola caramel apples to take the taste one level further.

Sprinkles are a classic topping choice.  We have several color combinations available for order on our website, however for the show we did a few sports themed combos.  We are located in Denver, Colorado – bet you can’t guess which teams we chose!

Use7

There are a number of sprinkle-like toppings out there, too.  We only scratched the surface by including shaped decorettes and nonpareil pearls on this spring holiday themed caramel apple.  Go to the cake decorating section of any craft store and you will find a whole new world of edible sugars, crystals, and even glitter!

Use6

The theme of the expo was camping and so we took our favorite campfire tradition, S’mores, and turned it into a caramel apple by using graham cracker cereal, mini marshmallows and a a milk chocolate drizzle.  Most desserts, from pies to candies to pastries to frozen treats, could be translated into pieces and rolled onto a caramel apple.
